Secretary Treasurer - VACANT

Recording Secretary - Marion Hendrickson

Since 1994, Marion has been a dedicated member of CUPE Local 3260, bringing over three decades of experience as an Educational Assistant. A graduate of Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Marion initially pursued a career in social work before discovering a passion for human services. This led to further studies at Holland College, where Marion completed the Human Services Program in 1994 and began a lifelong commitment to supporting students.

For most of Marion's career, she has worked in elementary school classrooms, providing essential support to young learners. In 2022, Marion embraced a new challenge by transitioning to Colonel Gray High School, a move that has been both rewarding and invigorating. This change has allowed Marion to step outside her comfort zone and experience the dynamics of a new environment, which she thoroughly enjoys.

Marion is an active and long-standing contributor to the Union, having served on numerous committees since 1997, including the Education Committee, Bylaws and Resolutions Committee, and Negotiations Committee. For the past 25 years, Marion has held the role of Recording Secretary. Currently, Marion serves on the Negotiations Committee and acts as a liaison for the Bylaws and Resolutions and Education Committees, demonstrating a continued commitment to the union and its members.

Beyond her professional life, Marion is passionate about staying active through yoga and walking. She enjoys spending time at the beach, engaging in home renovation and styling projects, and socializing. Marion resides in West Royalty with her husband, Chris, their son, Isaac, and two cats.

Born and raised in eastern Prince Edward Island, Andrea graduated from Souris Regional High School in June 2005. Her involvement with the union began in 2017 when she joined the Education Committee. In 2019, she was elected Treasurer on the Executive, a position she held until 2024 when she transitioned into her current role as Vice President for the East Area. Both positions have provided valuable opportunities for growth, learning, and building stronger connections with members.

After living in Charlottetown for 13 years, Andrea and her husband—her high school sweetheart—returned to Souris to raise their two daughters. Today, she works at the very school she once graduated from, a full-circle experience that makes her career especially meaningful.

Central East Urban VP - April Gallant

April Gallant has proudly served as the Central East Urban Vice President of CUPE Local 3260 for the past three years. In this role, she has also acted as Liaison for the Health and Safety Committee, where she has worked to ensure that the voices and concerns of members are heard and addressed.

An Educational Assistant at St. Jean Elementary, April brings both professional experience and a deep commitment to her union role. She first became involved with CUPE to better support and connect with her colleagues, while also developing a stronger understanding of member rights, the Collective Agreement, and the Union’s by-laws. Over her time on the Executive, she has acquired valuable skills and knowledge that continue to strengthen her ability to advocate on behalf of members.

April lives in Stratford with her husband, their two grown children, and a house full of pets—two cats and two recently adopted senior dogs, all of whom are well loved and thoroughly spoiled.

Approachable and dedicated, April wants members to know she is always just a text, call, or email away. If she doesn’t have an answer right away, she works hard to find the information needed. Above all, her hope is that every CUPE Local 3260 member feels seen, heard, appreciated, and recognized for the important work they do each and every day.

What we do

If you represent members at a lot of different work sites, it’s important to list somewhere on your site all of them – so that when your members search in google for something like “cupe paramedics hearst” – or even just “paramedics hearst,” or “st john evangelist school barrie”, they’ll find a page somewhere on the site that has those words in it.
CUPE 999 represents municipal workers in the following communities in the District of Cochrane:

  • Black River – Matheson
  • Cochrane
  • Fauquier – Strickland
  • Hearst
  • Iroquois Falls
  • Kapuskasing
  • Mattice – Val Cote
  • Moonbeam
  • Moosonee
  • Opasatika
  • Smooth Rock Falls
  • Timmins
  • Val Rita – Harty

Equality statement

Union solidarity is based on the principle that union members are equal and deserve mutual respect at all levels. Any behaviour that creates conflict prevents us from working together to strengthen our union.

As unionists, mutual respect, cooperation and understanding are our goals. We should neither condone nor tolerate behaviour that undermines the dignity or self-esteem of any individual or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment.

Discriminatory speech or conduct which is racist, sexist, transphobic or homophobic hurts and thereby divides us. So too, does discrimination on the basis of ability, age, class, religion, language and ethnic origin.

Sometimes discrimination takes the form of harassment. Harassment means using real or perceived power to abuse, devalue or humiliate. Harassment should not be treated as a joke. The uneasiness and resentment that it creates are not feelings that help us grow as a union.

Discrimination and harassment focus on characteristics that make us different; and they reduce our capacity to work together on shared concerns such as decent wages, safe working conditions, and justice in the workplace, society and in our union.

CUPE’s policies and practices must reflect our commitment to equality. Members, staff and elected officers must be mindful that all persons deserve dignity, equality and respect.
